I photographed an omiyamairi celebration at Shiogama Shrine in Tempaku Ward, Nagoya. With pleasant weather and the shrine’s greenery around us, the family could spend the important day together at a gentle pace.

The story begins before the formal portraits

I photographed the preparations and the moment the baby was dressed for the visit. These in-between scenes show how much care surrounds the celebration and help the finished gallery remember more than only the posed photographs.

Every expression belongs to the day

The baby slept peacefully at times and cried at others. Both are honest parts of an omiyamairi, so I did not treat one expression as more valuable than another. The family’s touch and attention connected all of those moments.

Family portraits among the greenery

Alongside the full family photographs, I made portraits of the parents together against the shrine’s green landscape and followed the family as they enjoyed their visit. The aim was a balance of ceremonial images and relaxed interaction.

Before photographing at a shrine

Photography permissions and ceremony rules vary by shrine and may change. Please confirm the latest policy directly with the shrine before the session; I can help plan a baby-first schedule and a comfortable route around the grounds.

Let’s preserve your family’s time.
