I photographed a family at Daan Forest Park in Taipei. Even with rain in the air, the family walked together, picked up flowers, and played chase while I followed those moments from a comfortable distance.
Play first, photographs second
The family did not need a long list of poses. Walking, collecting flowers, and chasing one another gave the children something real to enjoy, and the photographs grew naturally from that time together.
A generous green space in the city
Daan Forest Park is large enough to lend its name to a Taipei Metro station. Its lake, bamboo, and abundant wildlife—including squirrels, birds, turtles, and fish—create many different backgrounds within one easy walk.
Working with a rainy day
The rain meant we could not linger as long as usual, so I kept the session flexible and watched the family’s comfort. The park still looked beautiful in the soft weather, and I returned the following day simply to spend more time there.
A story worth revisiting
Thank you for letting me photograph the family’s closeness in such a lovely place. I hope to see the children and their parents again after they have grown and to add another chapter to the story.
